Rio Tinto Watch this Space

Nestled in an article placed in the The Australian, Jan 15, 2008, “Rio vows to export iron ore from India” http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,23059043-643,00.html

Rio Tinto iron ore chief Sam Walsh said that the company has ruled out building a shorter rail line through Liberia and using an existing Liberian port as too complex. He says that Arcelor Mittel beat him to the punch in Liberia. We will not soon forget how Rio Tinto backed out of negotiations on the old LAMCO claim. Curious and curiouser.

Keep an eye on this one. Rio’s Guinea operation is ambitious $US6billion ($6.7 billion) for the Simandou iron ore project. Could Guinea iron ore be coming through your town soon? What are their alternatives?

GOL may already have a deal. We hope it's good for us all. Wait and see.
